Course Delivery

The programme is scheduled to be held from 16-20 March, 2015 at TERI University, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Resource persons will include faculty members of TERI University and research professionals at TERI, with an expertise in teaching and research in different areas of sustainability. Besides in-house faculty, speakers from government/industry/academia/ international organizations will also be invited.

All the participants will be provided with reading materials and references. The course shall be covered through lectures, case discussions, videos, problem-solving exercises and experience sharing with participants. A field visit for 'on campus' participants and an open debate will also be arranged.

Those unable to attend the programme in person may join it through the online mode. The lectures will be accessible to registered participants on the internet. They will also be able to interact with the faculty by sending in their queries online. Aspiring applicants, however, are strongly encouraged to attend the programme on campus, in order to gain a rich experience of meeting and learning from the experts as well as co-participants.

Learning Objectives

The learning objectives of the summer school will include:

- An understanding of the regulatory framework, policies, and practices needed for sustainable development
- Familiarization with the issues and challenges pertaining to rural/urban planning and development
- An exposure to tools and (bio-)technologies for energy, food and health security, mitigation and adaptation of climate change
- An understanding of interdisciplinary and solution-based thinking for problems related to environmental degradation and resource management
- Reflection on the application of sustainability in various practical situations for developing cleaner and greener societies

Who can attend?

The programme is open for students, research scholars, corporate personnel, academicians and civil society workers. However, college and university students curious to learn about sustainability and pursue a career in sustainability, either through a job or by means of sustainable entrepreneurial ventures, are particularly encouraged to apply.

As there are a limited number of seats, applications would be considered on a first come, first serve basis.
