Faculty - TERI University

Chander Kumar Singh
Assistant Professor,
Department of Energy and Environment

Chander Kumar Singh joined Teri University in September 2011. Having profound interest in fields like remote sensing and GIS applications, Hydrogeology, Geophysics, Water Resource Management, Geology he started his research career at School of Environmental Sciences (SES), Jawaharlal Nehru University in the year 2005. In his research, he addressed critical issues and concerns of Groundwater quality and availability in the water scarce regions of India. His M.Phil and PhD work focused on "Integrated water resource management in a part of Punjab by using satellite data" and "Groundwater Exploration and Its Geochemical Assessment in Western Rajasthan: Computational Intelligence Approach for Remote Sensing, GIS & Geophysical Application" respectively. During his tenure at SES, JNU he was actively involved in various projects like [Working experimental prototype for landuse, landforms and soil characterization of Punjab and Rajasthan by using Satellite Data (Defense Terrain Research Laboratory), Thematic layers and their characterization by using satellite data of West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Sikkim and Bihar (National Informatics Centre), Identification of cotton growing areas and yield estimation in Bhatinda district of Punjab (Dept. of Science and Technology), Delineation of fluvial geomorphology of Assam, (ISRO)]. He was awarded Sat Pal Mittal Research Fellowship based on his academic excellence for the year 2006-2010. Chander Kumar Singh has authored several research papers/articles and a book in various nationally and internationally renowned peer reviewed journals (water resources management, hydrological processes, environmental monitoring and assessment, bulletin of environmental contamination and toxicology, earth environmental sciences). He has presented paper in various international conferences and was awarded Young Scientist Award by International Union of Geological Sciences in Euro Conference 2009, Switzerland.
