Chubamenla Jamir

Dr. Jamir teaches courses related to Climate Change and Food Security at the University.
Dr. Jamir joined TERI University in July 2012 as an Assistant Professor. Prior to joining TERI she was at the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), York, UK as a Ph.D. researcher. She got a doctoral degree from the University of York, UK and is currently an Associate at the Environment Department, University of York, UK.

Her key research expertise is air pollution focussing on the effects of ground level ozone on agricultural crops. She has been involved in developing methodologies for assessing the impact of ground level ozone on growth and productivity of select food crops grown in South Asia and the subsequent socio-economic impacts.

Her research interests includes, air pollution and climate change impacts on agricultural crop yield and socio-economic impacts; integrating indigenous knowledge with science for developing climate change related policies and adaptation strategies towards sustainable growth and development. She is also interested in working on environment and development issues by engaging with different stakeholders including local communities and people from different scientific and cultural background.

She has gained International research experience as a Ph.D. researcher at Jawaharlal Nehru University (India), Stockholm Environment Institute, Environment Department, University of York (UK) and Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute - SMHI (Sweden). She has attended the "UNEP- Male Declaration workshop and meeting on crop impacts" held in Thailand (2008) and Delhi (2010) as part of the "Ozone impacts on crops in South Asia" expert team from SEI. She has also presented her research work at international conferences in India, the UK and the US. She has taught Botany at undergraduate level in India and "Agricultural Economics" and "Biogeochemical Cycles" at University of York, UK.
