OUR MISSION
The Emerson CoE through its ongoing studies, collaborations, events, and publications, culminates its work in tackling key environmental challenges. The centre is committed to promote interdisciplinary research, foster meaningful partnerships with academia, industry, policymakers, and communities, and translate knowledge into actionable solutions that support sustainable development and informed decision making. Through its initiatives and programmes, the centre seeks to strengthen the science, policy and practice interface, enhancing institutional capacities, and fostering strategic collaborations to advance inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development.
OUR VISION
The Emerson Centre of Excellence for Sustainability Studies (CoE) through reseach and development its projects and publications envisions to strengthen the science, policy, and practice interface and fostering collaborative partnerships that build institutional capacity, leadership, and community-driven solutions for a sustainable future.
The Centre actively contributes to major national initiatives such as Mission LiFE, U75 Universities for Carbon Neutrality by 2070, the National Education Policy 2020, and the IPSA–Kumbh research project. These efforts enable the CoE to translate research into action, informing policy and practice while creating measurable impact at institutional, community, and national levels.
We are committed in supporting India’s sustainability and development goals and undertakes continuous, high-impact research and promotes evidence based decision making aligned with national initiatives. Our work contributes directly to realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 by enabling innovative approaches to climate action, carbon neutrality, and sustainable development.
