The CLIMATE JAMBOREE research forum aims to offer an opportunity to the youth to be exposed to sustainability issues, while developing research skills and to further encourage a network of students/future professionals and academics working on sustainable development.

Competitions

The skill development session would comprise lectures on quantitative and qualitative research tools and techniques and research communication. There will be two counselling sessions on careers in sustainability research were participants will get a chance to interact one-on-one with resource persons. The research communication session would also provide tips to the participants on how to frame their research in a simplified manner and thus reach broader audiences. Hands-on training shall be provided to the participants by taking them through a research proposal development workshop wherein they would brainstorm on ideas, develop research questions, define aims and objectives, understand how to conduct literature review and list out methods that can be used for conducting research. The interaction among participants and resource persons shall help in building context and content for evidence-based research to address various sustainability challenges. The research workshop shall include the following competitions along the themes of climate change; water; renewable energy; food security and; gender and equity.

Poster Presentation

3-Minute Research-proposal Presentation

This activity gives an opportunity for young researchers to showcase their high-impact research outputs through poster presentations to the audience of Climate Jamboree.
In this activity, the participants have to convey the highlights of their research work and its outcome / possible outcomes in three minutes to the audience.

Rules

Rules

  • The poster must be of A1 size (594 x 841 mm)
  • The text for the posters must be in an adequately large font (e.g. title 50pt, sub-headings 26pt, body text 20pt) to be easily legible by attendees from a distance of 5 feet or more. Lettering on illustrations should be large and legible.
  • The figure/s in the poster should be a minimum of 5 x 7 inches. Material should be displayed in a logical sequence (e.g. Introduction, Methodology, Result and Discussion, Conclusion) and each figure should be numbered.
  • No commercial activities or any advertising may be displayed on the posters. Non-compliance with this regulation will result in the poster being removed.
  • Presenters are responsible for printing and mounting the posters in a designated place. A designated place will be provided to each presenter along with essential accessories for mounting.
  • Top three poster presentations will be chosen by a jury of experts.
  • The presentations can have a maximum of five slides. There is no limitation on the minimum no. of slides.
  • The slides must have minimal text. The text must be in a legible font size.
  • The presentations should be compatible with Microsoft PowerPoint and must be transferred to the computer provided at the beginning of the session.
  • The time allotted for each presentation is three minutes. Candidate/s presenting beyond three minutes will be disqualified automatically.
  • Top three presenters will be selected by a panel of experts based on content, way of presentation, the impact of proposed research and practical relevance.
  • • Prize: Kindle for the first position and book vouchers for second and third positions.
  • • Last Date of Submission is 30th of October 2018.
  • • Authors of selected posters will be informed on the 31th of October 2018.
