I am very thankful to TERI SAS, Madam Fawzia and Madam Harmeet for conducting this online mentoring programme. There was so much to learn. My special thanks to Sravani, my student volunteer, who was patient throughout the journey, did the hand holding gently throughout and was always there when I needed the slightest help!
All in all, there were interesting things to learn like Voyager tool and my maps, and I have incorporated them in my teaching as well as shared them with teachers of the middle school who are really excited by using these tools and use them frequently to catch students’ attention, which is a challenge in itself, given the current lockdown scenario. Really obliged to TERI SAS for opening new vistas hitherto unexplored. In fact now most of my teaching is through these Google tools and students really look forward to a lot of COLOURFUL and VISUAL imagery.
The tools have really helped my department in integrating ART IN EDUCATION with them regular classes.
Really glad I was part of this training programme and even though I’m not a geography or social science teacher, the Google maps and voyager painted such interesting chemistry stories to discuss and relate!!
Students were totally engrossed through my green chemistry lesson and so also the other lessons my teachers collaborated with me.
I shared the VOYAGER tool and Google maps with middle school teachers as it was a good idea to teach topics like sustainable agriculture, terrace farming and rainwater harvesting, using the street view and relevant videos, to make it visually very appealing and help children comprehend the topic better. Also used MAP tool for teaching ores and the ozone layer topics to grade 10 and 11. Green chemistry at grade 12 was dealt with the VOYAGER tool.

My experience with Google Earth training programme was extremely exciting and enriching. This would not have been possible without constant support of Google Earth team and TERI SAS team. My heartfelt thanks to entire TERI SAS team, Google team and My Student Volunteer Lipi Gandhi who has been a great help throughout the entire programme.
I got to know about various Google Earth tools which can be used to make our teaching more interesting and effective. This workshop represents a highly creative approach towards teaching process and interconnection of various subjects helps to bridge the gap between student’s learning and understanding of concepts.
Various tools taught to us during this course are immensely helpful and make lessons livelier and incorporation.of these tools will enable students visualize things and they can remember in better manner. This is in fact environmentally friendly teaching aid. Google tools is helpful way to generate curiosity and interest in students.
Using Google Earth Voyager provides pre-built tours around the world and through history, students can explore literally anywhere on the planet as easily as they can explore their city. With street view students can walk down the streets in a foreign city, retracing the footsteps of a historical figure.
Google My maps can be given as prework before starting lesson to check their pre-requisite knowledge about the topic. Using Google Earth map can help to visualize abstract concepts which allow students to connect with their daily life experiences.
