Designing first business sustainability draft report of Bharti Infratel Limited

Abstract: Bharti Infratel Limited was incorporated on November 30, 2006 with the object of, inter-alia, setting up, operating and maintaining wireless communication towers. Bharti Infratel provides services related to Telecom Tower Infrastructure Sharing. The company acquire, build, own and operate towers and related infrastructure. The company is serving all Indian markets. It is carrying out business activity across all States of Union of India either directly or through its joint venture(42% holding) Indus Towers Limited. The Company’s vision is “To be the best and most innovative passive communications infrastructure provider globally known for Highest uptime, Speed and quality of deployment, Cost and energy efficiencies, Environment friendliness”.

The report entitle " DESIGNING OF FIRST BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY DRAFT REPORT OF BHARTI INFRATEL LIMITED” has been prepared to fulfill the partial requirement of the Major project report of MBA Business Sustainability 4th Semester.The objective for this report is that the Company wishes to showcase its ongoing efforts towards sustainability .

The Report is the design of first business sustainability draft report of Bharti Infratel Limited. The first formal step towards sustainability journey. This report contains overview of Bharti Infratel Limited efforts towards social, environmental and economical contribution for the year 2014-15.

The Report is based on Global Reporting Initiative’s G4 guidelines. Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) is one of the most prominent frameworks for sustainability reports. The GRI suggests items to include in a sustainability report and how to achieve high-quality content. Among the GRI guidelines for content are stakeholder inclusiveness and completeness. A report should list the company’s stakeholders, from shareholders to community members, and explain what the company is doing to address their interests. A complete sustainability report includes all significant information about a business’ environmental and social performance in clear, accurate, and credible terms. The GRI guidelines also list “standard disclosures”: important information that each company, regardless of size, type, or location, should include in its report.

It covers the period from 1st April 2014 to 31st March 2015. It discloses the management approach in relation to material aspects, covering indicators of the GRI’s G4 guidelines. The boundary of the report covers the telecommunication tower business operations of Bharti Infatel Limited.The study carried out for designing report was of qualitative type. Secondary data was collected from a variety of sources such as articles, publication, company website and personal interaction. Annual Report (year 2013-14) of Bharti Infratel was used as a reference to know the background of the organisation and its sustainability initiatives.

By going through the report readers will come to know sustainability approach of Bharti Infratel. It will introduce them with different sustainability performance indicators and organization strategy for future course of action towards its sustainability journey.As a student of MBA (Business Sustainability) designing of this Sustainability report draftt, has provided me learning which was of practical perspective for real job. This will help me to compete in the competitive job market.
