    Position: Post-doctoral Fellow at the Emerson Centre of Excellence for Sustainability Studies at TERI SAS

    Position Title: Post-doctoral Fellow

    Nature of the Research Engagement: To work on the project, IPSA-Kumbh – Mapping impact of floating population on sewerage infrastructure and river water quality during Maha Kumbh 2025 at Prayagraj under Namami Gange Programme. The project partners are TERI School of Advanced Studies, IIT Roorkee, IIT-BHU and Hokkaido University. The project activities by TERI SAS include developing a framework for WaSH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) services at Kumbh. To also contribute to research activities of the Centre in the domain of sustainability with emphasis on aspects such as net zero educational campuses, stakeholder engagement and urban planning, quantitative methods, and life cycle/carbon footprint assessments and circular economy.

    Duration of the Position: Until 30 September 2025 (short term position)

    Monthly Salary: Rs 80,000 + HRA (27%)

    Qualifications and Experience: Ph.D. in disciplines associated with urban planning, sustainability, urban services, resource efficiency, circular economy, life cycle assessment, and net zero buildings. Experience of working on related research projects, developing research proposals, undertaking field studies, writing quality research project reports and research publications, and organising research outreach activities. Evidence of publication shall be helpful. Willing to be stationed at Delhi and to travel to Prayagraj, as and when required.

    Position Title: Research Assistant

    Start Date: 1st August 2025

    Nature of the Research Engagement: To work on the project “Mapping the Gaps: Socio-Legal and Economic Barriers in SVAMITVA’s Implementation in Dadri Tehsil of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh”. The research study aims to examine the implementation of SVAMITVA policy through the lens of financial inclusion and socio-legal impact. 

    • The Research Assistant will be engaged for a period of 3 months (extendable for two months) and in this period she/he will be responsible for conducting the background study, field work, assist in preparation and finalization of questionnaire and sampling design.
    • After the field work has been completed, research assistant will be responsible for analyzing the data and documentation of field insights.
    • Assist in overall coordination and documentation of the research project.

    Educational Qualifications:

    • Masters in Public Policy/Political Science/Economics/Law/Social Sciences/Sociology etc.
    • Have knowledge about qualitative and quantitative methods and tools such as N Vivo, SPSS/STATA/R studio.
    • Significant interest and knowledge in land governance and administration.
    • Analytical abilities and effective oral and written communication skills are necessary prerequisites.
    • Ability to manage time effectively and to handle multiple requests at the same time.
    • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively as a team member.
    • Should be proficient in both Hindi and English.

    Remuneration: 20000/- p.m. INR (subject to fulfilment of the project requirements).

    Working place: TERI SAS and field work at Dadri, Uttar Pradesh.
