An interdisciplinary LL.M. program that integrates environmental law, climate policy, and infrastructure regulation with strong industry and research exposure.
Environmental laws and Infrastructure laws are two emerging fields in legal practice. There is a dearth of qualified legal professionals in both these fields. It is in this context that TERI SAS offers a one year LL.M. programme with specialisation in Environment and Natural Resources Law and Infrastructure and Business Law. This One Year LL.M programme will be offered under the auspices of the Centre for Post Graduate Legal Studies through the Department of Policy and Management Studies.
Interdisciplinary Approach to Law and Sustainability
The LL.M. at TERI School of Advanced Studies integrates law with environmental science, energy policy, and sustainable development, allowing students to understand legal issues within broader ecological and policy frameworks—an approach rarely offered in traditional law schools.
Specialization in Emerging Areas (Climate, Energy, Infrastructure)
The program focuses on cutting-edge legal fields such as climate change law, energy transition, environmental governance, and infrastructure regulation, preparing students for careers in international organizations, policy institutions, environmental consultancies, and regulatory bodies.
Strong Research and Policy Engagement
Being closely connected with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), students gain exposure to policy research projects, expert faculty, and industry practitioners, enabling them to engage with real-world environmental and sustainability challenges beyond classroom learning.

Upon culmination of the programme, the students will be able to:
• Understand and analyze the legal regime on protection of environment both domestic and international also draw its linkages with other branches of law
• Appreciate the interface between environmental regulation and their implications on the business operations
• Gain perspective on the legal framework for allocation and management of natural resources and the role of various stakeholders
• Acquire understanding on the legal response to climate change and its impact on other branches of law
• Develop and apply skills for undertaking quantitative and qualitative research to analyze data by undertaking project/dissertation
• Gain hands-experience in identifying gaps in law and policy and ability to connect the theory with its practical implication
Upon culmination of the programme, the students will be able to:
• Develop deep understanding of the legal framework governing the infrastructure sector
• Analyze the issues pertaining to taxation, competition and other business laws underpinning the regulation of infrastructure projects
• Understand the nuances of PPP projects, competitive bidding and project financing
• Gain perspectives on the legal framework and ensuing reforms in the specific infrastructure sectors like telecommunication, electricity etc.
• Develop and apply skills for undertaking quantitative and qualitative research to analyze data by undertaking project/dissertation
• Gain hands-experience in identifying gaps in law and policy and ability to connect the theory with its practical implication
