Abstract: This project is about the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana scheme’s role in development of the six lakh villages in India . This project tries to determine how effective is Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana in collaborating with different government initiatives to improve the life of the gram sabha of every village . Bhagwanpur Chattawan village in Meerut and Jaunti village in Delhi were the villages visited to see how the SAGY scheme is changing the landscape for rural development within India . The problems of the villages were identified and relevant solutions were given depending on the circumstances of the problems in the village . This study also plans to see what role do villagers themselves play in development of their villages . Both secondary and primary research were used in developing the outcomes of this project and solutions for development are unique to every village .There are 793 members of parliament and each member of parliament has to mandatorily adopt a village and transform it into a model village by 2016. The members of parliament have to adopt two more villages by 2019 and thereafter five more villages have to be made into model villages by 2024 .The development of model villages is a participatory process of the youth of the village and the district magistrate who will coordinate the implementation of live projects within the village .The idea behind developing a model village is to enrich the social capital of the village and develop infrastructure for basic amenities of the village . The gram panchayats are free to develop participation with relevant NGOs, research organizations , academic institutions , think tanks etc.to get new techniques , technology solutions etc. for the betterment of their village communities .
