Abstract: The dissertation work was carried out at two different locations. First being the Delhi Jal Board’s 1 MGD WTP located at Common Wealth Games Village premises and other being 12 MGD STP. The various processes involved in treatment were studied and performance evaluation of the plants was done by monitoring the various parameters which help in gauging the efficiency of the plants.

To cater to the water requirement of the Common Wealth Games village, construction of 1 MGD WTP was done. The WTP includes treatment of ground water from underground deep bores for hardness, ammonia, Nitrates removal, filtration and UV disinfection. The Keshopur STP is part of the Yamuna Action Plan which has 12 MGD plant working on the basis of the Modified Ludzack Ettinger Process. The sludge treatment technology is well equipped with Digesters, Gas mixers and Filter Presses for the dewatering of the sludge.

Understanding Concepts like Aeration, Clarification, Flocculation, Coagulation, Softening of Water, Neutralization, Re carbonization, Filtration, Disinfection, Sludge Thickening, Dewatering, Screening, Grit Separation, Centrifuging, and Sludge Drying . Testing of water for various parameters like Harness, Turbidity, Ammonia, Manganese, Nitrite, Dissolved Solids, PH, TSS, BOD, COD, MLSS, MLVSS, VSS, SVI, DO at various stages of treatment as per the WHO standards was carried out.

Preventive and corrective maintenance aspects of the involved auxiliaries like Feed and Transfer Pumps, Centrifuges, Gas Compressors, Blowers, Belt Filter Press, Diffusers and units like Aerators, High Contact Clarifiers, Tube settlers, Membrane filtration was carried out to optimize the overall performance of the plant.
