Abstract: The study “Opportunities and challenges for BRT in Indian cities: Learnings from Delhi” aimed to provide a basis for cities newly planning BRT. It identified some of the major issues and challenges faced by the stakeholders in planning & designing and operation stages of the BRT project and finally presented recommendations.

The report structured as follows chapters

Chapter 1:
•Introduction to the case study
•Objectives, scope, limitations and rational for selection of case study.

Chapter 2:
•Literature study
•The basic concept, background and need of the project.

Chapter 3:
•Delhi BRT
•Time line development of the Delhi BRT project, existing situation

Chapter 4:
•Data collection and analysis
•Data collection: literature study, stakeholder interviews and bus user survey
•Data analysis: Bus user survey analysis, SWOT and Issue matrix
•Recommendations
