Abstract: The introduction of high speed rail system can have transitional impact on the existing built environment of city and uplift municipal economies. The introduction of HSR system can make people live, work and enjoy in different cities. The study analyzes various demographic and socio-economic parameters which will prioritize potential alignment options for HSR system. The methodology adopted is secondary data collection from government published sources followed by its analysis in excel spreadsheet for prioritizing alignment options. Literature review has been done from master plans and related city transportation plans to look for potential High-speed rail (HSR) station within or outside city limits. Review of international case studies has been done to analyze the potential of HSR station to serve as property and real estate development catalyst.
