Abstract: The report focuses on four projects covering research and marketing, under the title: Indian Business Solutions
for Energy and Water. The objectives and scope of the study include the following:
• To support WBCSD in the facilitation and marketing of a new project in India, engaging producers and
buyers of renewable power in a project – Corporate Renewable PPA Forum – India deep-dive, to develop
new knowledge in the area.
• To support in the collation and production of a case study from India for the Energy Efficiency in
Buildings (EEB) project of WBCSD.
• To support the convening of a leadership group of companies to advance business action on water, and
collation and production of case studies in Water Reuse.
• To organize a field visit for WBCSD member companies to Jalgaon, Maharastra, for exchange on
sustainable agricultural practices and identifying best practices for WBCSD’s Water Smart Agriculture
initiative.
Possible Follow up
The Corporate Renewable PPA Forum – India deep-dive project will result in a series of regional and national
webinars and workshops, starting with an elementary webinar for companies that are new to the Indian market
and moving to workshops with experienced companies sharing their consumer / generator side challenges and
learnings. This would be followed by a short report outlining the benefits and options for Corporate Renewable
PPAs in India, also including several case studies from WBCSD members.
The Energy Efficiency in Buildings (EEB) case study project will result in the production of a case study on NIIT
University campus which will be uploaded to WBCSD’s EEB toolkit website.
The WBCSD Water leadership group project resulted in the identification of solutions and best practices under
the four initiatives of WBCSD - Water Smart Agriculture, WASH at the workplace, India Water Tool and Water
Reuse, by the CEOs of the water cluster of WBCSD in a water leadership group meeting. This is being followed
by collation and production of case studies in Water Reuse in India.
The Jalgaon field visit for member companies resulted in the creation of a document highlighting best practices
adopted by Jain Irrigation in Jalgaon, Maharashtra to be shared with other member companies as a part of
WBCSD’s Water Smart Agriculture initiative.
