Abstract: Environment of any mine area is dynamic in nature. Visible significant changes occur in its physical environment in a short interval of project initiation. This Change can be quantified as change on a chronological scale. Mapping such visible changes in the environment using Remote Sensing and GIS is Land Use Land Cover (LULC) Change Detection. Such a procedure has now become important for sustainable management of the environment in the form of EIA and IBM legislations. IBM has made it a mandate to supply LULC and Change maps in order to provide project clearances. Based on these maps, Environmental Management measures are taken up by the proponent.

To produce a map of quality and higher accuracy, for viable assessment of mine environment Manual Digitization was performed. Presumption based change maps were produced depicting positive, negative and no change for user-friendly and effortless interpretation of the outputs.
