Abstract: With water, the challenge of securing it for the future becomes more complex. Its inter-relationship with numerous other ecological, economic and social variables not only challenges synergies between policy-makers, practitioners and researchers but also influences risks, vulnerabilities and resilience across various sectors, scales and disciplines. Due to the frequent incidences of inadequate rainfall and over extraction of groundwater, many regions in India have exhibited drying-up of seasonal rivers and water shortages in terms of irrigation potential and overall water security. One of these regions also include the present study area. The main aim of the of the study is to aid the Gram Panchayat of Sikandar Pur in realisation of the existing issues and their probable solutions with respect to water security. The GP consists of two revenue villages namely Sikandar Pur and Rustampur under block Amauli and tehsil Bindki, in the district of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh, India. A small hamlet called Manna ka Dera serves as a satellite habitation which is administered under the Rustampur Gram Sabha. Thus, this habitation was also included in the study area. The research followed an observational study design and a mixed methods research methodology was employed to meet the objectives of the study where a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, were used for the collection of relevant primary and secondary data. The interventions suggested in this report not only aim to be specific to the current situation of the villages included in the study but also include suggestions based on interventions that have already begun to take place in other panchayats in the State. The list includes immediate, intermediate and long- term interventions with their three elements namely development, advocacy and monitoring aimed to achieve an outcome wherein the accountability does not fall only on the local government but also the community as a whole- thus making everyone in the community responsible for striving towards securing better and sustainable water management systems.
