Sustainability reporting scenario in Indian ecosystem

Abstract: This paper brings out the importance of sustainable development report (SDR) and recent milestones towards sustainability in the Indian business ecosystem. The study also highlights the reasons for SDRs and how they have evolved to meet the environment, social and economic challenges involved in the business. The author has discussed about the frameworks, mandates and standards presently applicable and used for reporting sustainable development practices by the companies and organizations in the Oil & Gas sector in India. This study shows how companies and organizations from the Oil & Gas sector in India report their sustainability. Further the paper discusses a case study which highlights the significance of stakeholder engagement for identification of major stakeholder groups and material topics of a particular Indian company in the Oil & Gas Sector and maps the oil & Gas sector to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
