Abstract: The study of urban ecology of Mysore Grey Slender Loris (Loris lydekkerianus lydekkerianus) is a pilot study carried out to understand the habitat character of the loris in an urban environment. The study highlights the importance of canopy continuity as a key factor of loris habitats. It highlights the difference in height of occurrence of lorises in urban habitats in comparison to non-urban habitats. There is also significant difference in height of occurrence in two types of urban habitats; secluded areas and non-secluded areas. However, it provides evidence that Slender loris is a highly adaptable species as it occurs even in highly disturbed urban habitats. The study also provides a representative species distribution model for Mysore Grey Slender Loris, using primary and secondary occurrence data. The report concluded how urban habitats can act as viable habitats for biodiversity.
