Abstract: Gender Equality has become an important agenda for all policy makers globally and has been understood as a key differentiator for sustainable growth. In 2015, UN devised a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals for its 193 member countries with the intentions of achieving a better tomorrow. UN also established an interconnection among these SDGs where success in one area would result in tackling problems in other areas. This paper attempts to understand as to how gender equality can act as an SDG accelerator to promote sustainable growth. The paper tries to map out the various actors for taking the agenda of SDGs forward. We identified Gender Mainstreaming approach as a strategy to promote women empowerment in all spheres of life. The paper explains UNDG MAPS framework of gender mainstreaming, pathways for achieving scales and policy advocacy.
