Abstract: NCR is a dynamic region with a rapid growth of population and Business activity. This vastly urbanized area is packed with the concentrated movement of people, goods and services. All types of movements – international, national, inter-regional, intra-regional take place within, to, from, through the region by variety of transport modes.

The Vision of NCRTC is to create High Speed, High Capacity, Comfortable & Reliable Commuter Service, Connecting Regional Nodes in NCR. The phase one of RRTS is to link Meerut and Delhi via Ghaziabad. The existing road and suburban railway system between Delhi-Meerut corridor is saturated and not capable of carrying additional traffic. In order to ensure long-term sustainability of the transit corridor and to have sustainable transportation system along RRTS corridor, it was recommended to develop multimodel integration. Following which RRTS corridor was considered as the most critical transit system solution which will assist in decentralizing the urbanization in the NCR and would reduce permanent immigration into Delhi while facilitating the growth of satellite towns.

As an essential facility, which starts with planning a multi-model integration hub to provide an attractive, reliable transit system which could be efficiently used by commuters. Adequate physical integration is also to be provided in between various modes at the station design level offering its users an opportunity of easy transfer without any delay and discomfort.

With an objective to provide a well-integrated system offering an ease of travel, integration of RRTS with various modes is considered at the station's design stage, including the design of parking and boarding/alighting space for various feeder modes and with future connectivity with the proposed transport system. As per the dispersal study report for multi modal integration and feasibility report, it was identified that stations like Sarai kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad can be developed as multi-modal stations for Delhi – Meerut RRTS corridor. Sarai kale khan will be a major multi-modal hub offering integration with Delhi-Panipat, Delhi-Meerut, Delhi - Alwar lines. In addition to services like Delhi metro, interstate bus terminals and local transport services like DTC, IPT, shared taxies, etc.
