Abstract:

The present study is designed to develop a framework and structured offering for providing Environmental Sustainability Performance Management Services to European brands for their supply chains in Asia. It aims to understand the sustainability status of selected European and Indian brands by using key sustainability parameters. The Environmental Sustainability Performance Management (popularly known as “Sustainability Assurance Services- SAS” and also previously termed as SAS in SUSTENT Group) is a new practice area being developed by SUSTENT Group as within the broad Sustainability Consulting space, SUSTENT Group’s core strength lies in Environmental Sustainability Consulting. This is also a very important practice being adopted by companies to become more sustainable. In this context, a research was carried out and a total of 43 brands (29- European and 14- Indian) from different sectors were studied. Their information was analyzed and insights were formulated. Results indicated that the majority of both European and Indian Brands have opted for some targets to become more climate positive and relatively a low number of brands in both cases have opted for targets to move more towards circular economy practices. This report also analyzes examples of Sustainability Frameworks of various companies that are being followed by them. These frameworks have been used as references for good practices. Based on the extensive research on various reference brands and also their strategies, frameworks, and targets specifically related to supply chain sustainability, an additional study was carried out to understand different players and interactions in a supply chain. After this, an opportunity model for a supply chain was designed which indicates various possible in-house as well as external players that could affect a supply chain.
