Pollution and conservation of rivers in India: - a case study of Ganga river

Abstract:

The Indian rivers are supposed to be the means for survival for the planet. But due to increase in industrialization and growth in population, influences it unfavourably. The Ganges is one among the biggest river in India and is additionally one of the most devotionally and religiously associated with the country. There are many sources of contamination, for example, domestic release, mechanical effluents, and agrarian overflow which impacts the Ganga stream most. The standard of water reduces straightforwardly or by implication of the mentioned reasons, being play a significant part on the wellbeing of human, and also environment. The present thesis discusses about the sources of contamination, water quality of river Ganga and impact on human and aquatic lives. It further discusses about laws and government plans to protect and conserve the rivers from various contamination and to what extent all these plans and laws are succeeded in conserving the river? Some suggestions have been also given to preserve and protect the river in future.
