Business responsibility towards human rights- need for a comprehensive framework

Abstract:

This paper examines how the United Nations Guiding Principles on Corporate and Human Rights (UNGPs) have influenced business views toward human rights responsibilities. Companies have a minimal duty to cooperate in order to protect human rights. They must act with reasonable care to avoid infringing the rights of others; another step will be for organizations‘ to adopt human rights policies or integrate human rights into existing policies. The conversation focused on the lessons gained and the challenges of integrating human rights principles within the organization's policy areas and How Human Rights has been exploited by corporations and what is the responsibility of businesses towards Human Rights. Also, it has focused on pointing out the challenges posed by the businesses in protecting the human rights and making guidelines. The analyses are done to know how business have realized about Human Rights and started evaluating and implementing strategies towards it. Also, the importance of protecting Human Rights, and the businesses being more responsible towards it. The analysis has also looked into the legal order around the globe.

This study explores the ideas, genesis and emergence of Business and Human Rights, focused on the policies of India have been aligned with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human rights and have carved out the comprehensive framework towards Businesses call to embrace the and resources for involvement to help organization to value Human Rights and to endorse them. The focus of the study is to look into the various gaps and comprehensive framework of the study, that how worldwide it has evolved and how the implementations have been going forward and taking place with different legal aspects.
