Abstract:

ESG –represents- Environment, Social and Governance-is booming as the defining industrial challenge of this 21st Century. ESG denotes 3 pillars of performance that judges a company’s impact on society, its effect on environmental sustainability, internal and external factors that govern the company policies and policy formulation that identify businesses with the potential to deliver better long term returns. This piece of project report is an outcome of a thorough study on the notion of ESG from a global angle and end-to-end quality assurance check on its implementation across diversified horizons. These horizons spread through different diversified industries, private equities, economies and geographies. Any piece of work on ESG throws light on its very goal to gain long term returns, build a conducive environment-cum-work culture that will make way for a company to be well equipped and operationalised such ESG strategies that would help it to achieve sustainable value creation.

The key objective of this thesis is to carry out analytical operation on private equities and score the risk they pose to the Environment by using the concept behind the ESG domain and perform the ESG Scoring activity.

As Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations become a part of every investment process, investors are increasingly focusing on each of the ESG metrics to outshine and outperform in the current global market and be future ready to combat, stand, survive and thrive against all Climate, environmental and societal challenges.
