Abstract:

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) issued the Voluntary Guidelines on Corporate Social Responsibility in 2009 as the first step in mainstreaming the concept of business responsibility in India. With the introduction of Business Responsibility Reporting (BRR), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), IR, National Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct (NGRBC), and now Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR), the reporting landscape has gone a long way (introduced through a SEBI circular dated 10 May 2021). A thorough literature review was done to map the differences between BRR and BRSR. Through gap assessment, the gaps or readiness in the reporting frameworks were marked. The BRSR framework emphasizes Scope 3 emissions.
