Assessment of quantity and quality of water for domestic use in district Jhalawar, Rajasthan

Abstract: Water Scarcity is challenging issue in the path of social and economic growth in rural areas of developing countries. Our Country is rich in Human resources and thus has immense scope of development. But this resource is under critical condition due to water scarcity and unhygienic surrounding. Water related diseases are common in the country due to improper sanitation system and poor maintenance of water supply structures. Government has not been able to achieve the minimum standards of 40 LPCD for rural people even after spending huge capital. This study attempts to bring out Socio-economic status of rural people, social structure of societies, water availability and quality and gap between minimum demand and supply in rural areas of Jhalawar district, Rajasthan. An attempt of predicting future demand and availability of water is also made. Data from this study indicates the gap in water supply in rural areas of Jhalawar District; thus it would help in planning and designing for improvement of water supply.
