ANNOUNCEMENTS
This study examines Khazan ecology, resource management, and institutional frameworks in Goa, India, focusing on Noczana and Talem Sawat Khazans. Using mixed methods, including qualitative oral histories and structured questionnaires, alongside secondary data analysis, it explores community perceptions and practices. Findings highlight Khazans' significance in ecological, economic, and cultural dimensions, despite challenges. Varied management strategies underscore the need for context-specific approaches. The study emphasizes enhanced collaboration and participatory governance for sustainable Khazan management. It also discusses regulatory frameworks like The Goa, Daman and Diu Agricultural Tenancy Act, the Code of Communidade, and Khazan components such as Bunds, sluice gates, and paddy fields.
