Abstract: We aim to develop a theoretical model using the problem of Samaritan‘s dilemma to ensure
that the surrogate is paid adequate compensation in the event of a failure. We show that if we
introduce a third party in the form of an altruist, then the effort level exerted by the surrogate
reduces, but the compensation in case of failure is at least as much as her reservation utility.
