Abstract: The use of vehicles in Delhi has been ever increasing as per statistics. The harmful impact of
vehicular emissions on the population can be easily gauged. In light of this, this study tried to
economically value the health damages from these emissions. The positive estimates of
willingness to pay from both the revealed preference and contingent valuation methods reveal
that people are willing to pay to improve the air quality in their neighborhoods. The
methodologies adopted to estimate the willingness to pay were found to be the best suited to
our case. However, the sample size was small but this could be replicated to a larger data set.
