Dr. Ruchi research in TERI is directed towards exploitation of innovative and sustainable bio resources and to develop new and improved applications for renewable biopolymers, biofuels, bio-based materials and chemicals. She has extensive research experience in the field of Biofuels, Bioproducts & Biorefining. Before joining TERI, Dr. Ruchi was associated with Indian Oil Corporation Limited where she worked a Scientific Officer for 7 years. She has extensive experience in the area of ‘2nd Generation Bioethanol Production from Lignocellulosic Biomass’. She developed potential cocktails of synergistic cellulolytic enzymes, devised novel dispersants and highly economic enzyme stabilizers for biomass saccharification leading to 5 Patents. Her current interests lie in lignin valorisation to develop an ‘Integrated Biorefinery Process’. During her visit to Oakridge National Lab, USA she developed novel processes for biomass deconstruction. She has been awarded with a prestigious ‘Young Scientist Governor Award and DST-INSPIRE fellowship.
She is serving as a Review Editor of Bioenergy and Biofuels, Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, Frontiers in Energy Research and as a Reviewer of Critical Reviews in Microbiology, Carbohydrate Polymers, Bioresource Technology, Bioresource Technology Reports. She is also an active member of the Society of Biological Chemists (SBC), India.
