We took a big step forward to implement the dream of making Solid Waste Management as the most reputed sector among all industries. It gives us immense happiness to share with you all that Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) and TERI School of Advanced Studies (TERI SAS) have joined hands to establish IPCA Centre for Waste Management and Research (ICWMR) which was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Prashant Gargava, Member Secretary, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on December 20th, 2022 at TERI SAS.
The inauguration ceremony was graced with the presence of dignitaries- Prof Prateek Sharma, Vice Chancellor, TERI SAS; Prof Arun Kansal, Director, ICWMR; Dr Sumit Sharma, Programme Officer, UNEP; Dr Sameer Prasad, Associate Professor, University of Colorado Colorado Springs; Mr. Ashish Jain, Founder-Director, IPCA & Mr Ajay Garg, Secretary, IPCA. A sapling was also planted by the Chief Guest, Dr Gargava, in the name of the centre.
About ICWMR: The IPCA Centre for Waste Management and Research is a think tank in the field of waste management, environment and sustainable development. The Centre will be instrumental in undertaking evidence-based research, developing technology, bringing innovations, conducting capacity building programmes, and developing a sustainable supply chain of waste. It will publish insights by eliciting inputs through organizing working group sessions, conferences and collaborating with similar national and international institutes & will also enroll research scholar for their PhD Degree.
IPCA Centre for Waste Management and Research, TERI School of Advanced Studies organized a 5-days training programme on ‘Sustainable Waste Management’ for delegates of Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), Maldives from 19-23 December 2022. The training programme aimed at enhancing the learning of participants on best practices in managing waste, exploring opportunities in the sector and honing their skills in business development. This was done through sessions by policy experts, academicians and experts from the field, case studies of best practices of India, interaction with industry practitioners and field visits to waste management facilities.
His Excellency Mr. Ibrahim Shaheeb, High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the felicitation ceremony on 23rd December 2022. Ms. Maryam Bassama, First Secretary of the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives to India was also present during the ceremony. Certificate of training completion were awarded to the participants.
TERI School of Advanced Studies (TERI SAS), in collaboration with SPIC MACAY, held their first ever dhrupad recital event on campus on 17th December. SPIC MACAY is a volunteer movement promoting Indian classical music and culture amongst youth. The immersive and pleasantly interactive dhrupad recital with Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar ji and his team left an impression of indelible calm that gripped us right after it ended. The event was hosted through our Heritage Club here at TERI SAS and was attended by a large audience
