Abstract:

The growing environmental crisis has intensified the focus on sustainable solutions, where green technology plays an important role in addressing climate change. Globally, organizations have explored patenting techniques to accelerate green technology. This study explores how the patent regime, both in India and internationally, contributes to the promotion, protection, and commercialization of environmentally friendly technologies. Legal frameworks such as the Patent Act, 1970, and international agreements were analyzed. It also examines global initiatives like WIPO GREEN and fast-track patenting systems in various jurisdictions. Through literature review and case studies, the research highlights how procedural reforms, incentive structures, and collaborative platforms enhance the adoption and dissemination of green innovations. The study concludes that aligning patent policy with climate goals can play a transformative role in driving green innovation.
