Abstract:

This research explores the role of entrepreneurship training in promoting women’s empowerment in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of Delhi. It aims to assess the impact of Vyapower Entrepreneurship Training Program on the socio-economic lives and entrepreneurial skills and knowledge of girl students enrolled in ITIs. With socio cultural restrictions and gender disparities continuing to limit women’s access to skill development and employment opportunities in India, this study aims to understand whether structured and targeted entrepreneurship training can act as a catalyst for change.

Findings reveal that most participants come from very low-income family backgrounds and face social restrictions related to work and travel. Despite these challenges, most students reported a significant improvement in their overall confidence level, business knowledge and willingness to pursue employment opportunities and entrepreneurship. The training was effective particularly in improving communication, problem solving, public speaking and business planning skills, while also enhancing their readiness for employment and sense of independence.

The study concludes that the Vyapower entrepreneurship program made a measurable contribution to the socio-economic empowerment of young women in vocational education by equipping them with life skills and entrepreneurship knowledge. The findings also suggests that entrepreneurship training has the capability to bridge the gendered gaps in technical education and stimulate pathways to employment and economic self-reliance.
