Abstract: Despite all efforts by the government to make education an integral part of a child’s life, the
criteria of admissions to nursery schools, especially in Delhi, has been a matter of intense
debate in the educational circles during the past few years. The widening quality gap between
private and state-run schools has exacerbated the problem even further. Records show that
number of candidates increase every year and with limited seats, it increases competition as
limited private unaided schools get much attention. With the Delhi High Court order to
include pre-school under RTE Act (2009), there is a need a devise a mechanism that ensures
utmost fairness and transparency. In such a situation, a Centralized clearing house with
student proposing Deferred Acceptance Algorithm is expected to give better results.
