As part of the Digital Economy: Dividends, Disputes, and Dimensions course in Public Policy, a guest lecture was organised on 1st May 2025.
Vaibhav Kaushik, Economist (Trade & Logistics) at the Asian Development Bank, delivered an insightful session on PM Gati Shakti Mission, leveraging technology and government's approach to expedite infrastructure development process. He shared how the mission is revolutionizing infrastructure planning by breaking administrative silos and using tech like IoT, digital land surveys, and strategic data layering.
With real-world examples like the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway and Gujarat Coastal Corridor, he showcased how a unified digital platform is fast-tracking India's infrastructure growth.
The REEM Group hosted an expert talk titled "Industrial Decarbonization and Carbon Markets”. Ms. Sabreen Ahmed, (REEM Alumnus) shared vital insights on a range of topics, including decarbonization in hard-to-abate sectors, concept of cumulative net emissions and on the evolving carbon markets in India. She brought in anecdotes from her long experience, giving a perspective on practical aspects of climate action and industrial sustainability. The session saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of TERI SAS students.
The EARTH DAY 2025 was celebrated at TERISAS through a lively session on "EARTH TALKS: FROM COP FRONTLINES" organized by the Department of Natural and Applied Sciences. The session was inaugurated by Prof SK Dhar, Vice Chancellor of TERISAS, through his inspiring talk on taking a pledge and taking action individually to save our planet. Prof CK Singh, Dean Academics, added that the time is now to show that we care through genuine actions based on adopting natural solutions. Ms Hemavathi S Shekhar, a climate researcher and lawyer, delivered her session on the relevance of climate negotiations at COP, how every COP has gained from discussions and delivery from previous COPs, and the journey for the Global South and small island nations has been arduous. She mentioned that intergenerational equity was coined for the first time in COP2015 and that youth and individuals must have a role to play in deciding the future of the implementations and commitments that each country makes, which will impact our combined future on the Earth. The students participated enthusiastically in the discussions.
